In a landmark event held on December 4, representatives from both local and foreign companies gathered for a pivotal workshop on digital foreign direct investments (dFDI) in Azerbaijan's burgeoning digital economy. The collaborative effort between the Fourth Industrial Revolution Analysis and Coordination Center (C4IR Azerbaijan), the Ministry of Economy, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO, and the World Economic Forum brought together key stakeholders to discuss and strategize the development of the country's digital landscape.

The workshop, attended by participants from the public sector and leaders of local and foreign companies, served as a platform for valuable insights and discussions. Fariz Jafarov, the Executive Director of C4IR Azerbaijan, offered a comprehensive overview of the activities undertaken by local and foreign companies investing in Azerbaijan's digital economy. He emphasized the pivotal role of proposals from the private sector in fostering digitization and driving sustainable growth.

Yusif Abdullayev, the Executive Director of AZPROMO, shed light on the role of digital foreign direct investments in advancing the non-oil sector. Highlighting AZPROMO's commitment, he discussed ongoing efforts to research international best practices related to digital FDI, underlining the agency's dedication to attracting investments that propel the country's economic diversification.

Dr. Matthew Stephenson, Head of Investment and Services at the World Economic Forum, shared the preliminary outcomes of the collaborative project on digital foreign direct investments. The workshop featured presentations by Nargiz Nasirzade, Head Specialist of the Investment Promotion Department at AZPROMO, delving into the realm of "Digital Direct Investments and InvestTech." Additionally, Heather Taylor-Strauss, Specialist in Economic and Social Affairs for the Asia-Pacific at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission, presented insights on "Moving Forward: Policy Choices in Action."
