An event was held on the topic"AI in the Next Generation Economy: Challenges and Opportunities"

In order to ensure the correct purchase of artificial intelligence technologies and the wider spread of these technologies, the presentation was held about the "AI Procurement Guidelines" project, prepared by the World Economic Forum and translated into Azerbaijani.

 

"AI in the Next Generation Economy: Challenges and Opportunities" was held with joint organization by the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) under the Ministry of Economy, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the State Service forn Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO".

 

"The primary objective of the event is to facilitate the exchange of experiences among experts in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. It also aims to ensure the proper procurement of C4IR technologies and promote their wider adoption.

 

During his speech at the event, Sahib Alakbarov, Deputy Minister of Economy, emphasized that accelerating the transition to a digital economy is a top priority in our country. He highlighted the essential role of digital technology in supporting economic growth, enhancing sectoral competitiveness, improving citizens' access to services, and advancing government services. The deputy minister also underscored the importance of developing Azerbaijan's Next Generation Economy Strategy to drive digital economy development.

 

Mammad Abbasbeyli, Head of the State Service forn Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy, provided insights into the institution's activities. He discussed institutional reforms aimed at enhancing the legislative framework for public procurement, measures implemented in the areas of quality infrastructure and consumer rights protection, innovations, and future perspectives in the procurement process. Additionally, he elaborated on the e-tender platform and the potential application of artificial intelligence on the platform in the future."

 

Yusif Abdullayev, Head of AZPROMO, emphasized the importance of integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies into the agency's activities. He discussed how these technologies support exports and attract foreign investments, citing global practices in this field.

 

Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of C4IR, outlined C4IR's activities, ongoing projects, and artificial intelligence initiatives outlined in the Next Generation Economy Strategy. He also highlighted cooperation between C4IR and the World Economic Forum, emphasizing the significance of the "AI Procurement Guidelines" in various fields and procurement processes. It was noted that Azerbaijan's C4IR Network is the second, after Brazil, to translate the guidelines into its own language.

 

Hubert Halope, Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Platform at the World Economic Forum, presented the "AI Procurement Guidelines" project during the workshop.

 

Clara Langevin, Head of the Platform for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Brazil's Fourth Industrial Revolution Network, Merve Ayyuce Kizrak, an Artificial Intelligence specialist from Turkey's Digital Transformation Office, and Jana Novohradska, a specialist from the Slovak Ministry of Investments, Regional Development, and Informatization, each delivered presentations on artificial intelligence implementation, legislation, and regulatory mechanisms in their respective countries.

 

Note: The "AI Procurement Guidelines" project was developed by the World Economic Forum. This project offers enterprises correct and transparent methods for the procurement of artificial intelligence and data-based technologies. It provides a guidebook for applying artificial intelligence technology in the public sector through public procurement, along with a set of tools related to the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. These guidelines are already in use in countries such as Brazil, England, India, and the Kingdom of Bahrain."
