The Azerbaijan stage of RobotChallenge 2026, an international robotics competition held in the country for the first time, has successfully concluded, bringing together hundreds of young participants to demonstrate their skills in robotics, programming, engineering and innovation.

The competition was organized with the primary support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and Azercell, in partnership with the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM), the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), the Innovation Center, Innoland, Azercosmos and STEAM Azerbaijan.

The competition brought together more than 600 participants and over 200 teams, competing across seven main categories and five subcategories. A total of 36 teams received awards.

Based on the results of the national competition, the 36 winning teams qualified to represent Azerbaijan at the international stage of RobotChallenge, held in China from 6 to 9 August 2026.

RobotChallenge is an international technology and robotics platform originating in China that supports young people in developing practical knowledge and skills in robotics, programming, engineering and innovation. The competition also provides participants with an opportunity to test their capabilities in an international environment and engage with emerging technologies through practical challenges.

The initiative contributes to Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to strengthen its innovation ecosystem, develop digital and technological skills among young people, and foster stronger links between science, technology and industry.

These priorities are aligned with the goals of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026, including the development of digital skills, support for innovation and the advancement of a Science and Industry Cluster 4.0 model.
