METAK LLC is advancing its Industry 4.0 transformation under Azerbaijan’s Digital Economy Development Support Programme, with maintenance and repair processes already digitalized and new technologies being introduced to automate production and enable real-time operational management.

The programme is implemented by the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM) under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and is designed to support local enterprises in accelerating technological transformation and adopting advanced industrial technologies.

METAK, a manufacturer of steel pipes and profiles, has participated in the initiative since its pilot phase. With the support of 4SIM, a comprehensive diagnostic assessment was conducted to identify priority areas for technological transformation. Based on the findings, a tailored transformation roadmap was developed and the company began the phased digitalization of its production processes.

As part of this transformation, METAK has digitalized the management of its maintenance and repair operations. Work is also underway to introduce predictive maintenance solutions that will enable real-time monitoring of equipment conditions and help identify potential failures before they occur.

The company is currently implementing a new automated solution for cooling, lubrication and filtration processes in steel pipe and profile production. The technology is expected to reduce the consumption of process fluids by up to 30%, while also lowering downtime and maintenance costs, extending equipment lifespan and improving product quality.

Implemented with the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, the Digital Economy Development Support Programme aims to accelerate the technological transformation of local enterprises, expand the adoption of advanced technologies and strengthen their competitiveness.

Under the programme, participating companies undergo assessments of their technological readiness, identify priority transformation areas and receive tailored roadmaps and support for the implementation of relevant technology solutions.

By expanding the adoption of Industry 4.0 approaches across industrial enterprises, the programme seeks to improve productivity, operational efficiency and technological readiness while contributing to the broader development of Azerbaijan’s digital economy.
