Global economic shifts, investment opportunities and Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional connectivity were discussed during a high-level session at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.
A session titled “Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World: Azerbaijan as a Strategic Gateway Between Regions” was held as part of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, convened under the patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
During the session, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, addressed ongoing changes in the global economic environment, Azerbaijan’s role in regional and international economic relations, opportunities to expand investment, and the country’s position in manufacturing and regional value chains.
The programme also featured a high-level conversation on “Global Economic Outlook” between Nouriel Roubini, economist, strategist and Chief Executive Officer of Roubini Macro Associates, and Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Euronews. The discussion explored shifts in the global economic landscape and key trends shaping economic growth and investment flows.
This was followed by a presentation by Valerio De Molli, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of The European House – Ambrosetti & TEHA Group, on “Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus: A Central Hub for Investment Growth.”
A high-level panel discussion titled “Shaping the Future of Global Growth, Investment and Connectivity” was moderated by Jane Witherspoon, Managing Editor of Euronews.
During the panel, Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to advance regional integration through its peace agenda, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and the creation of a stronger digital economy environment amid changing global investment flows.
The discussion also brought together Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan; Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for Communications of Pakistan; Besar Durmishi, Minister of Economy and Labour of North Macedonia; Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, Minister of Economy and Industry of Syria; and Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.
Participants exchanged views on the impact of global economic and geopolitical developments on national economies, the expansion of regional cooperation and investment ties, and the creation of new economic opportunities. Nouriel Roubini also contributed expert perspectives to the discussion.
